DEFORESTATION & POLLUTIONApproximately 3.5 million hectares have been cleared for the production of Palm Oil, the size equivalent to 300 soccer fields are being destroyed every hour. The Palm Oil industry has resulted in deforestation which also causes pollution as trees are being burned down which releases dangerous fumes into the atmosphere. Research shows that 20% of all carbon dioxide emissions come from deforestation.
HABITAT DEGRADATIONThe establishment of many Palm Oil plantations has resulted in habitat loss of not only animals, but humans as well. Many indigenous tribes have been cleared out of their home ground due to Palm Oil productions.
